Features of the Apex AP Pro Regent

This model contains so many features and innovations that it’s impossible to choose just one as the “stand out” feature of the chair. So, we’ll simply start with the basics and work our way through everything this chair has to offer.

S-Track Design

It comes as a surprise that a deluxe model like the Apex AP Pro Regent is only built around an S-track instead of the more recent and innovative L-track design, which is essentially the longer version of an S-track. Despite not having a longer track, the Pro Regent’s S-track design still delivers a superior massage experience.

4D Real Massage Technology

While the S-Track allows the rollers to move in three dimensions, that is Up/Down, Left/Right, and In/Out, 4D technology allows the rollers to extend out beyond the confines of the S-Track.

This is pivotal because it allows for advanced massage features like gripping and superior kneading, both of which the Pro Regent makes excellent use of, as you will see later in this review.

Body Scan Technology

This is a must-have feature to ensure superior massage quality before a massage even begins. Equipped with optical sensors to map out the body’s pressure points as well as cutting-edge computing technologies to adjust the rollers, the AP Pro Regent ensures a precise and personalized human-like massage is delivered every time.

Apex AP Pro Regent Massage Chair Review Shoulder - Chair Institute

Upper Shoulder Pressure Massage

Taking advantage of the 4D real massage technology, the Apex AP Pro Regent can reach places that many massage chairs simply can’t get to, such as the trapezius muscles where most of the should tension originates.

A nice touch for an added dimension of soothing relief, and exactly what you’d expect in a top of the line offering like this one.

Apex AP Pro Regent Massage Chair Review Glutes - Chair Institute

Lower Back & Glutes Massage

The “gripping” feature of the 4D technology comes into play here again. Your lower back gets an excellent massage while the glutes are held firmly in place by airbags, offering enormous therapeutic benefits.

Sideways Kneading

In addition to locating pressure points, the body scanning technology also locates your shoulder blades and avoids these when massaging the muscles in your shoulders. Chairs without this feature can sometimes give an uncomfortable shoulder massage as the rollers collide with your shoulder blades, not knowing to steer clear.

Air Massage Mode

While the Pro Regent only has 31 airbags, it doesn’t need more than this, because it utilizes an innovative “squeeze” and ”release” massage technique that delivers a superior air massage experience, even when compared to chairs that have a greater number of airbags in total. It simply has a more efficient, more effective design.

Following Arm Massagers

The problem with massage chairs that offer an arm massage is that whenever the chair reclines, the motion tends to pull the arms away from the airbags massaging them.

The Apex AP Pro Regent avoids that problem by designing the arm ports to follow the arc of the chair’s movement, so you’re always guaranteed to get the best arm massage that the chair can offer.

Fold-Away Ottoman

One of the chief complaints in massage chairs is that when you bring one at home, the living room turns into a chiropractor’s office. This is mostly because of the leg ports that make the chair look less like the typical recliner.

Borrowing a feature innovated by Human Touch, the Apex AP Pro Regent comes with a fold away ottoman that can be rolled and tucked in to hide the leg ports when not in use, improving the overall aesthetics of the chair.

Adjustable Leg Extension

The ottoman also has an auto-extension feature to accommodate users up to 6’4” in height. This made it the winner in our Best Hobbyist Massage Chair for Tall People Review.

Apex AP Pro Regent Massage Chair Review Control - Chair Institute

Sound System

Not only does this model offer speakers built into the headrest of the chair, but both arms have a compartment designed to hold a smartphone with a port to connect it to the chair.

The compartment also features easy access controls, allowing you to adjust the music and volume without interrupting your massage.

Rhythm Massage

When placed in this mode, the massage chair synchronizes the movement of the rollers with whatever music you play. A small feature that can have a huge impact on the overall massage experience, taking it to the next level.

Apex AP Pro Regent Massage Chair Review Heated Foot - Chair Institute

Heated Foot Massage

Not only does the Apex AP Pro Regent offer calf massage and rollers for the soles of your feet, but the bottoms of the footrest feature soothing heating pads to provide added therapeutic benefit to the bridge and balls of the feet.

Blanket Heat

While we’re on the subject of heat, this is a great time to mention one of the true innovations offered by the Apex AP Pro Regent. Generally speaking, most massage chairs for apartments only offer a small heated section in the lumbar area of the chair to provide heat therapy.

This model also has that lumbar heat feature. But, besides that, the Pro Regent has included arms that fold down over the front portion of the torso to provide soothing heat to the front and back that permeates the entire core. The heated arms even come with pockets to warm the hands while getting a massage!

Options Galore

The Apex AP Pro Regent comes with 11 pre-programmed massages:

  • Morning
  • Night
  • Stretch
  • Energize
  • Shoulder
  • Lower Back
  • Quick
  • Music

In addition to that, if you’d rather create your own totally custom massage, there are 9 massage techniques on offer you can build your massage around. These are:

  • Up/Down Knead
  • Knead
  • Knead and Tap
  • Rhythm Tap
  • Rolling
  • Sideways Knead
  • Rub
  • Tap
  • Shiatsu

Combine that with the three intensity settings, and you’ve got virtually unlimited options at your disposal, and it gets even better!

Memory Function

After designing your perfect massage, you can save the settings using the chair’s memory function. Up to three custom massages can be stored, so multiple members of your family can program their perfect massage experience, and recall it at the touch of a button.

Apex AP Pro Regent Massage Chair Review Remote - Chair Institute

Easy To Use

Despite having a dizzying number of features, the Pro Regent is remarkably easy to use. Thanks to its slim LCD remote that is easily accessible and has everything laid out in a logical fashion. Even someone who has never seen the chair before can enjoy a perfect massage in minutes!

Apex AP Pro Regent Massage Chair Review Deep Spot - Chair Institute

Deep Spot

Another fantastic innovation in the Apex AP Pro Regent is the “Deep Spot” button. When the rollers encounter a particularly sore spot on your back, you can hit the “Deep Spot” button, and the rollers will extend and increase pressure, providing a more intense massage on that spot.

Pros & Cons of the Apex AP Pro Regent

There are so many things to like about the Apex AP Pro Regent that it’s hard to pick out the biggest “pros” of the chair. It’s a masterpiece of design with loads of innovations that are sure to be appreciated.

If we had to name one, it would probably be the whole body heat function. Very few chairs offer a heated calf and foot massage, and this is the only one (so far) to offer the torso heat feature, although it’s a safe bet that imitators will begin to offer something like it soon!

The only potential negative we see in the Apex AP Pro Regent is that it’s not designed with space saving technology, so it does take a fair bit of space between the chair and the wall. But, given all the features this chair has, that’s certainly a forgivable oversight.

Some might also quibble with the fact that it does not offer Zero-Gravity seating positions. However, with loads of features packed into the chair to enhance the massage experience, you honestly won’t miss that feature at all.

We can’t even fault the chair for not having a wireless remote. Given the sheer number of features it offers, it would simply be impractical.

Apex AP Pro Regent Review Conclusion

In our Apex AP Pro Regent Review, we’ve tried to be as comprehensive as possible, laying out every feature the chair offers to enable you to make an informed decision.

It is, simply put, one of the best chairs on the market today. You’ll love it.
