Do you love being able to enjoy long, leisurely showers, where you just stand there and let the water pour over you until you run the hot water tank empty? If you live alone, that’s an indulgence you can enjoy without upsetting anyone else. If you don’t live alone, you may still be able to get away with doing that now and again without upsetting the other members of your household too much.

If you’re looking for a way to take your enjoyment of those long showers to the next level, a shower stool could be exactly what you’ve been looking for!

Broadly speaking, shower stools fall into two distinct categories: Those designed as medical devices for people with mobility issues that can make bathing a challenge, and those designed to be stylish pieces that will enhance the look of your bathroom, while simultaneously providing you with a reasonably comfortable perch to enjoy those long, luxurious showers.

This handy little stool, offered by Bare Décor, falls into that second category. It doesn’t offer any of the safety features that come standard on shower stools designed as medical devices. If you suffer from a mobility issue, this one is probably a non-starter for you. Even so, for the right user, the Bare Decor mosaic folding stool could be a perfect fit.

In the sections that follow, we’ll take an in-depth look into this model, telling you everything it gets right, and not pulling any punches when it comes to outlining its limitations. That way, you’ll have all the information you need to decide if this is the shower stool you’ve been searching for.

An Overview of the Bare Décor Mosaic Folding Stool

Small and stylish.

Those are the first two words that are likely to spring to mind when you see the Bare Decor Mosaic Folding stool for the first time. Its folding design is simple, relying heavily on the natural beauty of its teak wood construction, paired with an eye-catching mosaic pattern in the seat.

In our view, this was an excellent decision. Shower stools don’t need to be complicated, after all, and this one makes a handsome addition to any home bathroom. Before we say more than that, though, let’s take a closer look at the core stats that define this model. Here are the basics:

  • Overall Product Dimensions: 19” (H) x 13.5” (W) x 18” (D)
  • Folded Dimensions: 25.5” (H) x 6” (W) x 14.5” (D)
  • Seat Height: 19”
  • Seat Width: 13.5”
  • Seat Depth: 18”
  • Chair Weight: 7.8 pounds
  • Maximum Supported Weight: 200 pounds

There’s quite a lot to unpack here, so let’s break it down by the numbers. First and foremost, as you can see, this really is a smallish stool. Even though it’s made from solid teak woodit weighs less than 8 pounds, which makes it easy to fold it up and get it out of the way when you’re not actively using it.

The curious thing about this model, though, is that the height of the stool and the surprisingly modest weight limit aren’t very well matched in our view.

When it comes to seating, the standard big and tall range starts at 18” and goes to 22” or more, so the height of this stool is definitely in the big and tall territory.

From a practical perspective, that means if you’re a shorter individual, this stool might not be a great fit for you. It’s not adjustable in any way, so there’s no help on that front, either.

The problem, of course, is that taller people tend to be heavier than average too. Most of the furniture on the market today are designed to hold around 300-pounds. This little stool falls well short of that mark, so unless you’re taller, and of a slim build, again, this stool is probably not going to work for you.

On the other hand, most average-sized people will be able to use it but do take the stool’s weight limit seriously. The last thing you want is to have it collapsed under you while you’re in the shower!

Adjustability and Comfort

It probably comes as no surprise, but there’s nothing adjustable about this little stool. It is what it is.

You will find it to be surprisingly comfortable, though. The mosaic seat design helps, and is actually quite cunning because it allows water to flow freely through the seat, so it’s not puddling beneath you.

No Assembly Required

Although most of the furniture you can buy online these days requires assembly, this piece is a happy exception to that rule. If you decide you want one, it will arrive at your door in a modestly sized box. Just take it out, put it in your shower, and it’s ready to use. Or, leave it folded and stick it in the corner until you need it. There’s nothing else to do!

Bare Decor Mosaic Folding Stool Pros and Cons

We’d say here in our Bare Decor Mosaic folding stool review that we actually like this little stool better than its relatively modest overall rating would suggest. The relatively modest rating is mostly a function of the inherent limitations of the design. The seat height and the modest weight limit make it more of a niche product than anything.

On the plus side, it’s a gorgeous little piece of furniture that will look great in your bathroom, and it’s surprisingly well-priced, given that it’s made of solid teak wood.

Bare Decor Mosaic Folding Stool Review Conclusion

It can’t be stressed enough that the Bare Decor Mosaic Folding stool is a niche product. If you’re taller and heavier, the weight limit will make this model a non-starter for you. If you’re shorter than about 5’3” the height of the stool will make it a poor fit. If you have a mobility issue, you’ll almost certainly want a medical shower stool with safety features built-in.

For average-sized people, especially those who are in the market for something that’s not only functional but looks fantastic, this is a great option. On that basis, we provisionally recommend it.
