In a Nutshell:

The Sleekform Ergonomic Adjustable Office Chair is a decent-looking, fully adjustable ergonomic chair, but has some serious quality issues to be aware of. Recommended for anyone on a budget who is looking for a fully adjustable ergonomic chair for light to moderate use.

Do you spend a lot of time in front of your computer or working at a desk job? Are you on a budget, and looking for a chair that not only offers ergonomic features but is also fully adjustable?

If so, you may be interested in the Sleekform ergonomic adjustable office chair. Fair warning though, any time you start looking at any product in the budget or value segment of the market, there are going to be tradeoffs. You can get the features you want, but you’ll have to give up other things. That’s just how the value segment of the market is.

For that reason, this may or may not be the chair you’re looking for. It’s by no means a perfect solution, but the design has a lot to offer for a very attractive price.

In the sections that follow, we’ll go into full detail about both the good and bad aspects of this chair, so you’ll have all the information you need to decide if this is the model you’ve been looking for. If that sounds good to you, let’s jump right in and see what the Sleekform can (and can’t) do!

An Overview of the Sleekform Ergonomic Office Chair

The first thing you’ll notice about the Sleekform Ergonomic Adjustable Office Chair is that it’s unobtrusive. At first glance, it looks a lot like most of the other office chairs you see, except that this one also features a headrest.

The headrest though is just the tip of the iceberg. Although this model may look like a generic office chair, it’s got a fantastic feature set that will impress you. Unfortunately, because it’s (usually) offered at a budget price, it’s also got its share of shortcomings.

Adjustability, Comfort, and Extras

This will be the longest part of our Sleekform Ergonomic Adjustable Office Chair review because, for a budget-priced chair, it has an almost shocking number of features, some beautifully implemented, and others…not so much.

Let’s take it from the top, literally, and start with the headrest.

This is an unexpected feature on an office chair, and we love it. It’s reasonably well padded, comfortable, and even better, you can adjust both the heigh and the angle. On paper, that’s magnificent, but there are some issues with the implementation.

Depending on your body type and height, the headrest may not “fit” you. If you’re much taller than 6’2”, or if you have a long torso, you’ll find that even at full extension, it’s just not quite high enough to be an effective headrest. If you’re 6’2” or shorter, you should have no issues with it, but taller users should be aware.

Of course, if it turns out that no amount of tweaking will put the headrest in the right position for you, it’s easy enough to remove it, but then you’re paying for a feature you can’t use, and that’s no good either.

The lumbar support pad is also adjustable (both height and depth), and it suffers from the same problem that the headrest does. If you’re 6’2” or shorter, you’ll find that the adjustment range will put the support pad just where you want it. If you’re taller, it’ll be hit or miss, depending on the length of your torso.

Back view of the Sleekform Ergonomic Office Chair

The problem is, if the lumbar support isn’t hitting the right spot, it’s more than just uncomfortable (which is bad enough), but it can also actually hurt your back and mess with your posture. You’d literally be better off buying a chair with no lumbar support at all.

The armrests are also adjustable (height and distance from the seat), and contoured to provide an ergonomic fit, but sadly, they’re not padded. We’re on the fence about this one.

Padding would be more comfortable, but on the other hand, it would blunt the effectiveness of the ergonomic contouring. We’re going to call this one a conscious design decision, rather than a negative.

But wait, the Sleekform Ergonomic Office Chair isn’t done yet! It also reclines to a maximum of 45-degrees. Unfortunately, as with many of the features the chair brings to the table, there’s a problem.

To make a recline functional, both the seat and the seat back need to move. In this chair, the seat back moves, but the seat itself is completely stationary. That makes reclining in the chair an extremely awkward proposition and renders the feature only marginally useful (at best).

The seat back is mesh, which is fantastic because it’s breathable, making the Sleekform chair conducive to long-duration sitting. The cushion is meshed over cloth, stretched over standard block foam. It’s reasonably comfortable, but some users have complained that it’s too hard for long-duration sitting.

Your mileage will vary on that front but bear in mind that since it’s conventional block foam, over time, it will break down. So, even if it starts off too hard for your liking, it won’t take long for you to break it in, and in a few years’ time, you may need to look into replacing the padding of the seat cushion.

Does Not Come Assembled

Parts of the Sleekform Ergonomic Adjustable Office Chair

As with most office chairs, this one will arrive at your doorstep unassembled. It’s a fairly heavy chair, which makes it a bit more challenging to assemble than its lighter cousins. The upshot though, is that the company includes a helpful instruction video which is exceptional.

Overall, the assembly process will take you about an hour on your own, 40-45 minutes if you have someone to help you.

Pros & Cons of the Sleekform Ergonomic Adjustable Office Chair

So where does that leave us?

You probably noticed in the section on Adjustability, Comfort, and Customization that for just about every positive feature we listed, we also listed a negative. That’s unfortunate, but that’s the reality of the Sleekform Ergonomic Gaming Chair.

Our view is that it’s a work in progress. It’s an excellent start, but it falls short of greatness due to spotty feature implementation.

Lables on the features of the Sleekform Gaming Chair

We’ll summarize the good and the bad here, and add in a few additional pros and cons we haven’t already talked about:

The Good

  • Comes with a headrest!
  • An adjustable lumbar support pad.
  • Adjustable Armrests.
  • Recline function.
  • Height adjustable.
  • Well Padded.
  • Mesh seatback for breathability and added comfort.
  • Well priced (sometimes).
  • Supports an impressive amount of weight (330 pounds).
  • Offered by a company with a surprisingly good reputation for post-sales support.

The Bad

  • The headrest doesn’t have a huge range of motion and may not fit taller users well.
  • The lumbar support pad doesn’t have a huge range of motion and may not fit taller users well.
  • The way the recline function was implemented makes it only marginally useful.
  • Some users complain that the padding is too hard. Even if it’s too hard for you since it’s standard block foam, it won’t stay that way, and you may find that you’ll have to have the chair re-padded in just a few years.
  • The hydraulic mechanism that controls the seat height is cheaply made, and many users have reported that it stops working altogether after a short time.
  • The chair base is cheaply made and not very durable. A great many users have complained about wheels falling off and support struts on the base twisting or breaking in half after only a few months of use.
  • The pricing is…strange. Apparently, the company uses software that auto-adjusts the price of the chair based on their current inventory levels. If you can get the Sleekform Gaming Chair for $140 or less, it’s a solid value, but sometimes you’ll see it listed for as much as $220, and at that price, it’s not a good deal at all.

Based on the above, it’s good that the company has a reputation for excellent customer service because the odds are that you’ll need it.

Sleekform Ergonomic Adjustable Office Chair Review Conclusion

The Sleekform Ergonomic Adjustable Office Chair has a fantastic set of features but suffers from implementations that vary widely in their quality, and is further hindered by low-cost materials used in its construction. Because of that, we can’t give the chair a strong recommendation, but we can give it a provisional one. In our view, the ideal user for this chair is someone who:

  • Is shorter than 6’2.”
  • Weighs less than 330 pounds (and preferably a good deal less, given the low quality of the base).
  • Plans to use the chair only lightly or moderately (continued daily long-term use would wear out the relatively low-quality materials too quickly to make it a worthwhile purchase).
  • Someone on a budget who wants lots of adjustability but doesn’t have a ton of money to spend.

The more of those that apply to you, the more you’re apt to like the chair – IF you can catch it at the low end of its fluctuating price band (use Honey or a similar app to track the price changes over time and catch it when it’s low).

On that basis, we provisionally recommend the chair, and we’ll end by noting that we sincerely hope that the company keeps working to improve the model because it’s got the potential to be one of the best chairs on the market!
