Do you want to maximize your customization options without feeling like you need a Ph.D. to learn how to use the chair?

If you answered yes to either of those questions, you’d be thrilled by what you find in our review of the Cozzia EC 618. While it’s not a particularly well-known model, as you will see, they went all out with this design, providing a fantastic feature set at a mid-range price.

In the following sections, we’ll detail everything this chair has to offer so you can decide for yourself whether or not this is the model you’ve been looking for.

Key Features of the Cozzia EC 618

Before we get into the details, we need to say a few words about variants to clear up a mystery.

Some websites may reference the “Cozzia EC 618B” or “Cozzia Massage Chair EC 618B”. According to the company, there is no such model. So, any references you see are for strictly marketing purposes.

Not only does the company not list a B-variant on its website, but the user manual does not mention it either. We’re not sure why some marketers chose to list it in this manner, but just to be clear, it is the same chair.​

Having said that, let’s check out what it offers, feature-wise!

Cozzia Massage Chair Color EC 618 Variants

S-Track Design

The Cozzia EC618 gets off to a strong start by utilizing an S-Track and quad rollers as the core of its design.

The S-Track is important because it allows the rollers to follow the natural curvature of your body’s spine. The quad rollers are important because they closely mimic the feel of human hands on your back.

The two features combine to give you a superior massage experience every time.

3D Body Scan

Working closely with the features above, 3D Body Scanning Technology takes the massage to the next level by scanning for the body’s pressure points before each massage and adjusting the position of the rollers accordingly.

In addition to this automated approach, buttons on the remote allow you to manually tweak the roller positions and the width of the massage field if the body scan doesn’t get the rollers exactly where you need them.

This one-two approach to roller position is ironclad and guarantees an optimal massage experience.

Zero-Gravity Seating

At the push of a button, the EC 618 will recline you into a position where your knees are elevated slightly above your heart before beginning your massage.

From this position, not only do you experience a feeling of weightlessness, but almost all of your body’s weight is pressing down against the rollers. This allows them to render a deeper, more penetrating, and ultimately more satisfying massage.

Our only complaint about implementing this feature in the EC 618 is that only a single Zero-G seating position is offered.

It is common for chairs with this feature to offer two or even three, so we were disappointed to see just one. That’s not a deal breaker, but we’d love to see it addressed in a future upgrade to the model.

Loaded With Options

Other Cozzia EC 618 reviews tend to pay special attention to this aspect of the chair, and with good reason. For a brand that isn’t very well known, the company does exceedingly well in providing many options for its users, and this model is no exception. 

Massage Techniques

Any of these may be selected when the chair is in manual mode and used to create a custom massage experience. It is fantastic that not one but two advanced techniques (Swedish and Shiatsu) are included here. Many comparably priced chairs only offer one advanced technique.

In addition to these, the model offers several pre-programmed massage routines. Note that some of these pre-programmed options make additional advanced styles available. Sadly, you can’t select these manually, but you can access them in some form, which we must regard as a win.

Pre-programmed Options

Considering manual and pre-programmed together, the EC 618 offers four advanced massage styles. That selection is usually only found in top-end chairs that cost twice as much, so you’re getting your money’s worth out of this aspect of the chair’s design.

It gets better, though. While most companies allow you to customize your experience through three intensity and speed levels from the remote, the EC 618 offers five-speed and intensity levels. Again, this is a huge win for the user.

Ultimately, that means you’ve got a mind-blowing number of configuration options to play with! You can create a different massage experience every time you sit down to use the chair if you want to.

In our view, the only way they could have improved on this would have been to include a memory slot system allowing you to save your favorite settings for easy recall later. However, since not many chairs offer that functionality, we can’t count it against them. Still, we’d love to see it upgraded to the model.

Seat Vibration

People tend to either love vibration mode or hate it.

Those who love it swear by it. While it’s not a true massage technique in its own right, it does (or can, for some people) enhance the experience and help improve blood flow and circulation to the glutes and thighs. Those who dislike the feat say it felt like the chair was trying to shake them off or shake their eyes out of their heads.

It’s something you’ll have to experiment with to see whether you find it useful or not. If you do, you’ll probably wind up using it regularly. If you don’t, this will be one of those features you ignore.

Air Massage Mode

Our Cozzia EC 618 massage chair review would not be complete if we didn’t draw special attention to this feature.

In other Cozzia models, we’ve remarked that their implementation of the Air Massage feature was on par with its competitors but nothing remarkable. In this case, they have outdone themselves.

The EC 618 features 64 Second Generation Airbags, more than almost every other chair in its price range. Even better, they are placed to provide a full-body air massage, which has been one of the limitations of other Cozzia models.

The airbags are broken out by the following zones:

Each zone’s intensity level can be independently controlled. As with the roller-based massage modes, the air massage can be adjusted via the remote through five intensity levels.

This is a tremendously good implementation of the feature. You will find that the EC 618’s air massage is better than the much more expensive chairs offered. The only chair we can think of offhand that delivers a better air massage is the Inada Dreamwave, with 101 Airbags (which costs more than $10,000!)

Lumbar Heat

While we always appreciate heat in any form in a massage chair, Cozzia’s implementation here is nothing different or special. This is the same heat function they offer in many of their other models: lumbar only, binary (on or off), with no precise temperature control.

Most companies implement lumbar heat this way, which puts Cozzia on par with everyone else. But of course, we’d love to have seen a temperature control feature or heat in the calf ports as well.

Still, it offers heat at all, which is a big win. Plus, if you suffer from chronic lower back pain, this will probably be your favorite aspect of the chair.

MP3 Support

This feature can in no way be described as critical, but it is a wildly popular one. We’ve said in reviews of other Cozzia products that we’d love to see them add MP3 support, so we’re quite pleased to see it featured in this model.

The ability to pull your favorite music from your smartphone and listen to it through the chair’s built-in speakers is a nice touch that helps to personalize the experience.

Adjustable Timer

Too few massage chairs offer this feature. We love the ability to control every aspect of the massage experience precisely, and the more controls a model offers, the better.

It’s the best of both worlds. Those who prefer a more automated approach will accept the default massage times. Do-it-yourselfers want more control, and the adjustable timer gives it to them.

In this case, all the massage programs on offer default to an industry-standard 30-minute duration. But, it can be adjusted downward in five-minute increments to suit each user’s preference, which is fantastic.

Body Stretch (Sort of)

It’s always exciting to see a company innovate and try new features. This has led to some fantastic new features in the industry. But of course, you never know which ones will catch on and become popular and which ones will be cast aside.

The Cozzia EC 618 massage chair’s substitute for the standard body stretch feature will likely wind up in the latter category. It was a good try, but compared to the feature it was designed to replace, it just doesn’t quite measure up.

“Zig-Zag” is designed to systematically alternate the inflation/deflation of the chair’s airbags to twist the body from neck to hip. This provides therapeutic value, like a body stretch. Both can take pressure off the discs in your spine; the body stretch tends to be slightly more effective. 

That’s not to say that Cozzia’s Zig-Zag function is without value. Put, if you’ve used a chair with a body stretch function, you’ll probably like it better than the 618’s solution. It was an excellent attempt, and kudos to them for the innovation, but ultimately, it falls a bit short, in our view.

Calf & Foot Massage

We’ve called the company out on this feature in their other products as having sub-par execution. In other models, the calf and foot massage are rendered via airbags only, producing acceptable but not stellar results.

In the Cozzia massage chair 618, they’ve improved on this by adding dual rollers in the bottom of the foot well, which gently massages the soles of your feet. An excellent feature addition that brings this aspect of the chair up to par with the rest of the design.

LED Lighting

The Cozzia 618 also features soft LED lights on either side of the chair. Depending on your preference, these default to a light bluish color but can be changed to red or green.

While these don’t directly impact the massage, if you’re sitting in a darkened room, they can be quite soothing and help you relax.

(Fairly) Easy To Use Remote

It’s unavoidable that the more features you add to any product, the more complex its operation becomes, and the longer it takes to master it.

The same is true here. The EC 618 has a learning curve, but you can tell that the company put a lot of time and thought into the design and layout of the remote.

All the features are logically placed, and you won’t have trouble finding the desired features. You can enjoy your first massage in a matter of minutes! After 4-5 uses of the chair, you’ll be able to say that you’ve pretty much mastered it. Cozzia did a good job on this front.

A Brief Word About The Cozzia EC 618 Manual

Some of Cozzia’s earlier product offerings suffered from a poorly written manual that was cryptic and unhelpful. Those problems seem to have been solved, and while there’s nothing remarkable about the product manual, it is well-written, clear, and reasonably concise.

Pros & Cons of the Cozzia EC 618 Massage Chair

As you have seen, this chair offers an amazing set of features, made even better when you consider the Cozzia EC 618 price. No other mid-range chair can match it, feature for feature, which is why we gave it a near-perfect rating.

If you’re looking for a chair that provides the biggest bang for your buck, this is the one you want. It’s not perfect, and there are a (very) few things we’d love to see changed or improved, but there’s no denying that this is a masterpiece.

Cozzia outdid themselves when designing the EC 618. We would recommend this chair to anyone without reservation.
