How’s your back? It probably doesn’t feel great if you’re like millions of Americans. Chronic back pain is, after all, one of the most common ailments in the nation. It probably has a lot to do with your posture. The problem is, even if you sit in an ergonomic chair at work, any good it’s doing you is probably being undone by all the time you spend sitting on your home furniture.
The reason? Most home furnishings are designed, at least from an ergonomic perspective. The good news is, that’s changing. While ergonomically designed living room furniture is still a tiny slice of the overall market, it’s a rapidly growing segment, and some surprisingly good ergonomic recliners are currently available. The Human Touch Perfect Chair PC-500 is one of these.
Human Touch is perhaps best known for its massage chairs, which have some of the most innovative designs and are of the highest quality in the industry. What isn’t as well-known is that they have a staggering variety of other types of chairs, all of exceptional quality. However, there’s a catch: You’ll pay a hefty premium for their designs.
This is a case of getting what you pay for, but the simple truth is that the cost puts all but Human Touch’s low-end models out of reach for many. Still, if you’ve got some money to spare or are willing to save, they’re well worth the money, a statement that applies to the Silhouette.
In the following sections, we’ll review everything the Human Touch PC-500 Silhouette Zero-Gravity Recliner can do so you’ll have all the information you need to decide if it’s the “right” model. Ready to take a closer look? Let’s go!
Key Features of the Human Touch PC 500
The first thing you’ll notice about the Silhouette is that it’s not your typical recliner. Its wood base is lovingly hand-carved (and hand-stained!) from 100% renewable, plantation-grown Parawood.
Upholstery
The chair itself is a rather minimalist design, sleek and modern, and offered in a variety of top-grain leather color options, including:
Note that you can downgrade the upholstery to either premium or imitation leather at the point of sale. This will save you money, but honestly, that would be like buying a Lamborghini and then painting it with dollar-store spray paint. We couldn’t bring ourselves to do it. Still, the option is there if you want it.
Specifications
The Human Touch PC 500 measures 47” x 29” x 41” and weighs 155 pounds.
While it’s an undeniably beautiful chair, we rated it somewhat low in aesthetic flexibility because its modern, minimalist design may not blend well with many home décor schemes. That said, if you like it, you want it.
Adjustability & Comfort
Our Human Touch Perfect Chair PC-500 review has much to say. For starters, it’s a motorized recliner, which sets it apart from most of the chairs we discussed in our recent roundup review. The motor is whisper quiet, and the reclining motion is smooth, so you won’t experience any abrupt starts, stops, or jarring motions as it eases you back into position.
The controls are simple and intuitive, located on the chair’s left arm. With one touch of your thumb, you can precisely control your recline angle.
Of course, we wouldn’t have written this review if the chair didn’t have a full range of ergonomic supports, including exceptional lumbar support, an articulating headrest, and an extra pillow for added comfort.
However, if the Silhouette has a “signature feature,” it would be Zero-Gravity seating options.
This is a significant addition to the model for several reasons.
First and foremost, Zero-G seating is highly therapeutic. Placing you in a position such that your knees are elevated slightly above your heart leaves you feeling weightless, but that’s more than just a marketing gimmick. It has natural, tangible health benefits, including the fact that it improves circulation, helps lower your blood pressure, and is excellent for soothing the pain in your aching back.
The second reason it’s so significant is that Human Touch has lots of experience with Zero-G seating, given that it’s a feature incorporated into many of their massage chair designs, and few companies do it better.
What you’re getting, then, is a chair that provides more than simple relaxation. Sure, it’s well-padded and comfortable, but it’s a lot more than that. Granted, it’s no massage chair, but it’s probably the next best thing, and spending a few hours relaxing in it will leave you feeling refreshed and rejuvenated. Isn’t that what you want from a lounge chair?
Storage & Extras
This will be a short section because there’s nothing to discuss here besides the “extra” of being a motorized chair. Any extra would work against the chair’s minimalist design.
The Human Touch PC-500 Silhouette Zero-Gravity recliner doesn’t need bells and whistles. It’s a great chair on its own merits. The first time you sit in it, you’ll wonder how you got along without it.
Some Assembly Required
Here’s the part you may not like. When the chair arrives at your doorstep, it’ll appear unassembled in a box. Unfortunately, the company doesn’t offer White Glove service, so there’s no way around it; you’ll have to put it together yourself.
If there’s a silver lining here, Human Touch’s quality control is world-class, so all the pieces fit seamlessly together. If you assemble it by yourself, expect to spend about an hour. It’ll go about 30% faster if you have a trusty assistant, which is the approach we’d recommend taking.
While discussing putting the chair together, it’s worth mentioning that the materials used in the Silhouette’s construction are ridiculously high-quality. The hand-carved Parawood, solid steel frame, glide rails, and brushed aluminum accents are pieces of furniture designed to stand the test of time.

Pros and Cons of Human Touch Perfect Chair PC-500
We love everything about the Perfect Chair PC-500 Silhouette except the price. It’s a remarkable chair, beautiful and built to last. It’s also the closest thing to a “green” (sustainable) seating option you’re likely to find, so if sustainability is your passion, that gives you one more excellent reason to consider buying this model.
As we said, though, the price may give you pause. As good as it is, it’s just beyond the reach of many users.
Final Thoughts on Human Touch Perfect Chair PC-500 Review
We heartily recommend the Human Touch Perfect Chair PC-500 Silhouette to anyone, but you may decide to give it a pass for two reasons.
First, we keep returning to the chair’s staggering cost, which may put it out of reach for you. Second, although a beautiful chair by any reckoning, it doesn’t “fit well” with many home décor schemes. That will matter more to some people than others, and if your furniture must blend seamlessly together, you may find yourself reluctantly looking for another model.
For everyone else, though, it’s a superb choice.
