In a Nutshell:

The KHALZ Kneeling Chair is a surprisingly comfortable, fairly sturdy little chair, offered for a song. Recommended for anyone looking for a decent kneeling chair who doesn’t want to spend an arm and a leg, and anyone who’s never owned a kneeling chair before, who’s looking for an inexpensive way to experiment with this type of seating.

Are you in the market for a decent kneeling chair?  Are you on a budget?  If you answered yes to either of those questions, KHALZ might have exactly what you’ve been looking for.

If you’re not sure what all the fuss is about, kneeling chairs are an alternative form of ergonomic seating.  While they may look a little funny (which is why these types of chairs don’t score high on aesthetic flexibility), they’re a lot more comfortable than you might think.

If you’ve never sat in one, this model is so attractively priced that it represents a great way to experiment to see if you like this type of chair or not. If you already know you like this type of chair, fantastic!  You’ll find the KHALZ kneeling chair to be surprisingly durable for the price

If you’ve never sat in one and are looking for a low-cost way to experiment, this is a good option because even if you wind up not liking it, well…you didn’t break the bank to get it, so you’re not out much, and if you can find someone to gift it to, then so much the better!

Don’t be fooled, by this chair’s modest overall ranking.  Its final score is on the low side not because it’s just an average product, but because most people regard kneeling chairs as funny looking little things, and as such, not terribly attractive.

That, combined with the fact that KHALZ is a little-known brand not known for its world-class support are the major factors driving the score down.  Regarding comfort and function though, this chair delivers. If those are the things most important to you, you won’t be disappointed!

In any case, in the sections that follow here in our KHALZ kneeling chair review, we’ll walk you through everything this chair gets right, and highlight the things it doesn’t do so well so you’ll have all the information you need to decide if it’s the right model for you.

An Overview of the KHALZ Kneeling Chair

If you’ve never seen or used a kneeling chair, then the first thing you’re likely to think when you see it is that it looks like some strange alien torture device. That’s not an uncommon reaction, because kneeling chairs do have an unusual look about them, but the reality is that their unusual aesthetic is entirely intentional.

The KHALZ kneeling chair was designed with ergonomics first and foremost in mind, so aesthetics naturally took a backseat.

Despite its unusual appearance, the chair is surprisingly comfortable, but if you’re not accustomed to sitting in one, it will take a bit of getting used to.  Concerning basic stats, there’s not much to talk about but here’s the lowdown:

  • Max. Recommended User Height: 6’2”
  • Max. Supported User Weight: 240 pounds
  • Chair Weight: 19.6 pounds
  • Overall Product Dimensions: 27.2” x 18.9” x 5.9.”
  • Seat to Floor Height: 18.9” to 30”

The most interesting thing to mention here is that while the chair utilizes relatively low-quality materials in its construction, they’re better quality than you get in most office furniture sold at the value segment of the market.  The KHALZ features a lightweight steel frame, rather than aluminum or plastic, and you can order the chair with either PU upholstery or if you want to spend a bit more, durable fabric.

PU is…well, PU.  It’s low quality and will peel and wear quickly, so if you go the cheaper route, you can expect the chair to start showing its age after no more than a year or two (even sooner if you plan on using the chair for several hours every day).  The fabric will stand up better, and combined with the lightweight steel frame, should stand up reasonably well to even heavy daily use.

Adjustability and Comfort

These types of chairs aren’t known for their stellar adjustability, so the big thing to talk about here is the seat to floor height adjustment range, which is quite broad.

That means the chair is well suited to serving a variety of body shapes and sizes, but there’s a catch: Adjusting these types of chairs can be a pain.  It’s a time-consuming process.

If you’re used to sitting in a conventional office chair, you’ve probably been spoiled by how easy it is to make adjustments.  You can tweak the height and tilt angle while you’re sitting in the chair.

That’s not possible with this chair.  To make any adjustments at all, you’ll need to get out of it and reposition the seat, taking advantage of the pre-drilled holes in the steel frame.

The good news here is that if you’re the only person who will be using the chair, once you get the settings where you want them, it’s not something you’ll have to tweak or adjust after that.  This brings up another point to consider though:

The KHALZ Kneeling Chair with conventional block foam padding

If you’re buying a chair with the thought in mind that multiple people in your household will be using it regularly, this kind of seating is not optimal—unless you’re all pretty much the same size.  You’d almost certainly be better off getting a conventional office chair that allows for easier adjustment, so each person can tweak the settings as they use it.

Where comfort is concerned, although the product description claims that this model has thicker padding than most other kneeling chairs it competes with, this isn’t the case.  The padding is conventional block foam and is 3.5” thick.  That’s certainly enough padding to make it comfortable, but it’s not what we would consider luxurious.

Even so, it’s fine for light to moderate daily use, and you won’t be uncomfortable in it even if you use the chair for more extended periods, although this is mostly due to the model’s excellent ergonomic design, rather than the amount of padding the chair boasts, which is actually about average.  All that to say that while the chair is undoubtedly comfortable, it won’t win any awards on that front.

Does Not Come Assembled

Although the KHALZ kneeling chair doesn’t come assembled, the assembly process is relatively straightforward, and you won’t have any particular difficulty putting it together.  One advantage that kneeling chairs have over conventional office chairs is that the pieces are smaller and as such, you won’t struggle to put it together by yourself.  Even if you take your time, you can have this chair put together and ready for first use in about twenty minutes.

Pros & Cons of the KHALZ Kneeling Chair

Here are the things we think you’ll like best about the KHALZ kneeling chair:

  • You can order it in either PU or Fabric.  You’ll pay a bit more for the fabric upholstery, but in our view, this is the superior (and longer lasting) option.
  • Given its modest price, it’s surprisingly sturdy.  Although the materials used in the chair’s construction are relatively low-quality, they’re at the upper end of that spectrum.
  • Even in its more expensive fabric configuration, it’s modestly priced.
  • While kneeling chairs aren’t known for having a great deal of adjustability, there are enough options here to satisfy.

And here are the weak points of the design:

  • It’s a kneeling chair.  Unless you’re specifically in the market for one or are interested in trying one out, this isn’t the chair for you.
  • Low-end materials used in its construction mean that this chair isn’t one that you can expect years and years of service.
  • If you opt for the PU upholstery, it will start showing its age much more quickly than you’d like, which will shorten its useful life further.
  • Offered by a company with relatively little brand heft, and not much in the way of post-sales support.  If something breaks, you’re better off just buying a different chair.

KHALZ Kneeling Chair Review Conclusion

These types of chairs tend to be self-selecting.  You either want one, or you don’t.  You are either interested in experimenting with one, or not.  The simple truth is that although they are very good chairs from an ergonomic standpoint, the overwhelming majority of people in the market for a new chair are looking for a much more conventional design. For that reason, we regard this as a niche product

Overall then, we give the KHALZ kneeling chair a provisional recommendation.  If you’re looking for an inexpensive kneeling chair, this is a good option.
