Summary

Mesh office chairs are an excellent fit for people who tend to get hot and stuffy in more bulky chairs. If you’re looking for a high back chair under $200, then consider our top pick, the Lorell Executive Mesh High-Back Chair.

For many of us, life is lived in the moment. We aren’t concerned with the future because there’s too much going on in the present. As it turns out, sitting for long periods of time in standard office furniture can cause long-term health issues.

As this information has come to light, more brands are creating their variations of ergonomic office chairs. Our Lorell Executive High-Back Chair review is an in-depth examination of our top pick for the best high-back office chair under $200. Read on to find out why it’s one of our favorites!

Lorell Executive High-Back Chair Overview

The Lorell Executive High-Back Chair has an unassuming appearance, but don’t let the cover fool you; this chair packs a lot of features into one package. The Lorell brand focuses on creating office furniture that combines both value and rich features into each product.

All of their products are certified by ANSI/BIFMA standards for ergonomics. They also include a warranty on their office chairs. Moreover, in support of the environment, many of Lorell’s products also have a recycle symbol to indicate they were made using recycled parts.

They are also proud to show their support for green business models with a Greenguard certification. This badge indicates that the company has met expectations for low emissions of volatile organic compounds in their products.

Lorell’s high-back office chair includes a lot of features we want to see in any ergonomic option. The back of the chair has a natural curve that comfortably supports your posture. The 360-degree swivel and height adjustment are also very user-friendly.

Mesh chairs like this one are new to the industry, but they often garner positive reviews from customers who want something with more airflow. The reality is that thick leather chairs can be hot, especially during summer months.

Despite a ho-hum appearance, Lorell’s mesh office chair has a lot of positive features for the price. Let’s find out what you can expect from this product.

Mesh High-Back Office Chair Pros and Cons

If you’re in the market for a high-back office chair under $200, the Lorell Executive Mesh High-Back chair could be the perfect fit. Here’s a breakdown of the pros and cons:

PROS

  • Curved back offers excellent support
  • Mesh back provides superior ventilation
  • Adjustable height, tilt, and armrests
  • Durable design and longevity

CONS

  • The cushion is a little thin
  • Standard design lacks attractive visuals
  • Armrests can feel wobbly
  • Mild squeaks and groans
  • Back support doesn’t work as well for people under 5’1”

The first thing you’ll notice when browsing chairs from Lorell are the value they provide. There are a lot of features present in this chair that you wouldn’t normally expect for a price tag under 200 dollars.

The presence of adjustable features like height, tilt, and armrests allow the chair to suit a variety of users. The mesh back is also great for people who want a breathable material. The seat cushion could use more padding, but there’s no denying that this chair has a long lifespan.

Some customers have reported it lasting up to three years without any problems. This is an impressive feat for a chair that gets a lot of heavy usages. Other minor complaints include things like the chair’s bland design or the mild sounds it makes when you’re moving.

For people under 5’1” or over 5’10” the back support may not line up correctly, so this is worth considering based on your height.

The Final Verdict: Lorell Executive Mesh High-Back Chair Review

Our Lorell Executive Mesh High-Back Chair review mirrors many of the other opinions out there. This is a solid ergonomic office chair with a wide selection of features and a stellar price point. If you need something durable and long-lasting, then look no further.

If you are shorter or taller than average people, a different chair may suit you better. This is also true if you’re looking for a chair that has more adjustable ergonomic features. Despite some small complaints, this chair is still our top pick for under $200.

I’m writing in regards to your, Lorell High Back Mesh Back, model LLR86200.

In 2012 I was in an auto accident, which broke my
back in 9 places.

This chair has been the only chair, I’ve been able to sit in.

Unfortunately, everytime I sit in or stand up, there is a big thump or clunck.

I’m wondering, do you happen know, what may be causing this & is it repairable.

Thank you, in advance for your time.

Best Regards
Shari

Hello Shari, we’re so sorry to hear about your accident!

We would first suggest contacting the company directly: https://www.lorellfurniture.com/site/contact

Having said that, we’ll try to throw some ideas of our own.

Without actually seeing the chair, it’s impossible to say for sure what might be causing that strange noise, but there are a couple of distinct possibilities. Here are a few things to check:

      1) If you’ve also been noticing that as you sit in the chair, it starts to sink, and you have to keep raising it up to the proper seat height, it’s almost certainly the gas lift mechanism. These are interchangeable, and you can buy a new lift and drop it into place.
      2) If the seat height isn’t part of the problem, it could be that one or more of the bolts that hold the seat pan to the legs has become loosened over time. If this is the case, you’ll probably also notice a bit of wobble in the seat as you’re sitting in it throughout the day.
      3) If neither of those holds true, then it could also be that the base has become damaged or weakened over time, and what you’re hearing is structural stress from the base. Fortunately, bases are interchangeable as well and if a careful inspection of the base reveals any stress fractures or cracking, definitely replace it right away before it sends you tumbling to the floor!
      4) My own office chair (a Flash Furniture Big and Tall Hercules 24/7) also sometimes makes a clinking sound when I sit in it. In my case, it’s that the metal armrests are a little loose and I’ve been slack about tightening them back up… the clink is my periodic reminder that I need to dig the Allan Wrench back out and do that, so it’s worth checking on your chair too.

Let us know if it was any of these!
