In this piece, we’ll be comparing the Luraco i7 vs Inada Dreamwave, going feature by feature and evaluating which model has the superior implementation.
We’ll keep score, awarding more points to the winner of each feature implementation. If we judge a feature to be a tie, each will get the same points.
In the end, we’ll declare a winner!
Note that for this competition, we’ll give all features equal weight. That may result in our score differing from yours, which may result in a different outcome.
That’s fine, but at least this feature-by-feature comparison will give you a strong starting point in terms of evaluating which chair is right for you.
We should also note that of the two chairs being considered, the Dreamwave is significantly more expensive. If money is a consideration, that will influence and shade your conclusion as well.
Having said that, let’s get started!
Luraco i7 vs Inada Dreamwave Feature Comparison
Track Design & Roller Array
Luraco i7: ★★★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★
Both of these mighty chairs are built around the same core technologies. Both employ a combination of an industry-standard S-Track and quad rollers.
This is an excellent combination and comes as no surprise. The quad rollers can often be mistaken for the feel of human hands, and the S-Track allows those rollers to travel the natural curve of your body’s spine.
On the surface of it then, this appears to be a tie, but Luraco massage chairs have a secret weapon in the form of its 4D Technology.
It utilizes extension arms which allow its rollers to deviate up to 3” from the massage track, which makes the Luraco capable of delivering a deeper and more penetrating roller-based massage. Our first point then goes to the iRobotics 7!
3D Body Scanning Technology
Luraco i7: ★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★
This technology modifies and enhances the basic experience by taking a scan of your body before your massage begins, and adjusting the rollers and the width of the massage field. Doing both of these things ensures a world-class experience with every use.
While there are some differences at the margins, the result is the same for both chairs, so we rate this feature a tie, awarding no points to either side.
Zero-Gravity Seating
Luraco i7: ★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★
Another technology included to enhance the overall experience; this sees you recline to a position that presses most of your body’s weight down and against the rollers, resulting in a deeper, more therapeutic massage.
Both models offer this feature, and both provide a single seating position, so again, we rate this a tie and award no points to either side.
Massage Options
Luraco i7: ★★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★★★
The Luraco offers well over a hundred different massage combinations, which is excellent by any reckoning. Unfortunately, it doesn’t even come close to matching the Dreamwave on this front, which has nearly an order of magnitude more.
With over a thousand combinations to choose from, the Dreamwave wins this feature’s point hands down—a testament to the excellence of Inada chairs.
Air Massage Mode
Luraco i7: ★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★★
Again, the Luraco puts in a strong showing with its 80 airbags, but the Dreamwave was built around this particular feature, and with a staggering 101 airbags, it once again wins the point handily.
Heat
Luraco i7: ★★★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★
This is a close feature implementation, and both models do an excellent job. The Dreamwave offers heat in both the back and the seat, but the Luraco does a better job, providing heat in the lumbar area, the seat, and the foot wells.
Even better, the i7’s heat can be adjusted through five levels of intensity, while the Dreamwave has no temperature control function. Point to Luraco.
Body Stretch
Luraco i7: ★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★
Both chairs offer a body stretch, and while the particulars vary slightly, the result is largely the same. They both provide almost immediate pain relief by taking pressure off compressed discs in your spine, making this one of the strongest therapeutic features a massage chair can offer.
This is essentially a tie, so no point is awarded to either side.
Adjustable Timer
Luraco i7: ★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★
Both models are functionally similar here. The Dreamwave’s massage programs default to a fifteen-minute duration and can be modified to run from between 5 and 30 minutes. The i7’s massage routines default to a twenty-minute period and can be adjusted through the same range of times.
Again, we rate this implementation a tie, so award no points to either chair.
Extendable Ottoman
Luraco i7: ★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★
Both chairs utilize an extension module in their respective Ottomans, and both can accommodate users up to 6’5” in height, making this yet another tie.
Calf and Foot Massage
Luraco i7: ★★★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★★
This is a tricky feature to judge.
On the one hand, the Dreamwave’s superior number of airbags give it an advantage, but the iRobotics 7 has a few tricks up its sleeves, the first being the heat as mentioned earlier in the foot wells.
In addition to that, the i7 utilizes a combination of airbags and foot rollers to render its foot massage, and while it’s very close, we feel that this provides the superior experience. Point to the Luraco.
Back Vibration Massage
Luraco i7: ★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★★★
This is a feature the Dreamwave offers that Luraco’s model just has no counter for. Inada’s chair wins this point by default, although it should be noted that while vibration massage does have some therapeutic value, not everyone is a fan.
You’ll want to experiment with this feature to see if it’s’ something you would use on a regular basis. In any case, point to Inada.
MP3 Support
Luraco i7: ★★★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★
Music is a minor feature, but one users categorically love. The i7 provides it; the Dreamwave does not so point to Luraco.
Memory Function
Luraco i7: ★★★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★
This is, in our view, a glaring weakness of Inada’s Dreamwave. With so many massage combinations on offer, a memory function would be a huge win, allowing users to pre-program their preferred options and not have to re-create them with every use.
Unfortunately, the Dreamwave simply doesn’t have the capability, where the iRobotics 7 does. Another point to Luraco.
Blood Pressure Monitoring
Luraco i7: ★★★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★
Luraco’s i7 comes with a Velcro cuff that not only monitors blood pressure but also heart rate. While this may not be relevant to every user, it’s a fantastic addition and another feature that the Dreamwave simply has no answer for. Point to Luraco.
The Remote
Luraco i7: ★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★★
Both chairs do a good job here, and we’d be tempted to rate this a tie, but the reality is that although the Dreamwave has a steeper learning curve, its remote is slightly better designed. The steeper learning curve stems mostly from the mind-boggling number of options the chair makes available.
We give this point to Inada by a slim margin.
Service, Warranty, and Support
Luraco i7: ★★★ | Inada Dreamwave: ★★★★
While Luraco offers a superb warranty, we found that Inada offers slightly better overall service and support, and so, award this point to the Dreamwave.
Having reached the end, we have our winner! Luraco’s i7 beats the mighty Dreamwave!
Pros & Cons of the Luraco iRobotics 7 vs Inada Dreamwave
As you can see based on our Luraco iRobotics 7 vs Inada Dreamwave review to this point, both chairs are full-featured and quite closely matched, but there are some things that could use improvement on both.
Inada’s Dreamwave is an exceptional design, and what it does, it does very well. But, it suffers from an exceedingly narrow focus. For instance, in practice, you’re unlikely ever to use all 1000+ massage combinations it makes available.
If even a portion of the effort that went into making that number of combinations possible was redirected into, say, a more robust heat implementation or MP3 support, the chair would appeal to even more people.
Then there are some features that neither chair does well. For instance, a top-end chair with only a single zero-gravity seating position seems jarring. Both should offer three.
Also, neither of these designs are built using Space-Saving technology which would be a huge win.
Are these chairs perfect? Of course not, but they both come pretty close to that mark, even though they have very different strengths.
Luraco i7 vs Inada Dreamwave Conclusion
Given how close the final score was between these two Luraco iRobotics 7 vs Inada Dreamwave, it would not be at all surprising if you wound up with a different result.
Mostly, it comes down to what specific features you’re looking for.
If you want a chair that focuses on the core technologies that make an excellent massage: Airbags and massage combinations, then you’ll give more weight to those features, and Inada’s Dreamwave will win easily.
On the other hand, if you’re looking for a chair with a broad range of capabilities, then the i7 is going to be much more to your liking.
As for us, we would recommend either of these without hesitation. They are among the best of the best.
