Do you suffer from chronic back pain?  Millions do, and it can be agonizing.  While there are lots of different approaches, you can take to reduce your pain, one simple and effective thing you can do is to upgrade your living room furniture.

While ergonomic lounge chairs are only a small slice of the market at present, there are several great options currently available, and the Mecor Lounger is one of these.  It’s comparable in price to the Milano Lounge Chair, offered by Artiva USA, but with a very different aesthetic, so if the Milano’s looks aren’t to your liking, this is a great alternative.

Of course, the Mecor lounge chair is a solid design in its own right, even minus the comparison with the Milano, and in the sections that follow, we’ll show you exactly why. If you’re looking for a value-priced ergonomic lounge chair, this one’s well worth considering.  Let’s take a closer look!

An Overview of the Mecor Ergonomic Lounge Chair

Like the chair offered by Flash Furniture, the Mecor chair could theoretically be used as either a simple living room lounge chair, or, if you find somewhere to put the included Ottoman, as an office chair, although it is perhaps slightly less well-suited to that purpose than Flash Furniture’s offering.

The chair has a simple, elegant look to it that will fit in well with many (but not all) home décor schemes.  The frame is sturdy die-cast, powder-coated aluminum, with Palisander wood veneer accents.  It’s upholstered with Italian leather, and while not overstuffed, it is generously padded and quite comfortable.

The Mecor lounge chair measures 34.25” x 34.25” x 32.28” and its accompanying Ottoman measures 25.59” x 21.26” x 17.32”.  One potentially limiting factor is the fact that it’s only offered in two colors (brown or black).  It’s not much of a limitation, given how well those two colors blend in with a wide range of décor schemes, but it is worth mentioning.

Adjustability & Comfort

Other than the facts that both the chair and the Ottoman swivel on their respective bases, and the chair offers a simple but functional recline function, there are no extras on offer.  That’s not entirely unexpected, given the model’s modest price though.

Regarding comfort, as we mentioned in the last section, the Mecor lounge chair is well-padded and reasonably comfortable, but it’s not overstuffed, and it’s not a great chair for napping.  Having said that, it’s easily comfortable enough for enjoying a quiet evening at home, binge-watching Netflix, and the like.

Storage & Extras

Again, given that this is a value-priced model, it should come as no great surprise that there are no fun “extras” on offer here.  While some would see that as a negative, we view it as a natural consequence of the decision to keep the price of the chair as low as possible, and we can’t really fault the company for that.

Some Assembly Required

As is the case with most value-priced furniture, the Mecor Ergonomic Lounge Chair arrives at your house in a big box, unassembled.  The assembly instructions leave a bit to be desired, but the chair doesn’t come in a vast number of pieces, so even with less-than-clear instructions, you should experience no special difficulty putting it together.

Well, that’s not entirely true.  Mecor’s quality control isn’t quite as good as Flash Furniture’s, and as such, some of the screw holes might not line up perfectly, but this is a minor challenge, and easily overcome.

Ideally, you’ll want to have a helper to speed the process along, but even if you don’t, it’ll take you less than an hour from initial unboxing to relaxing in it.

Pros & Cons of the Mecor Lounge Chair

While we personally like the look and feel of the Mecor chair, we understand that not everyone will agree, and given that it does have a distinctive appearance, that will probably have at least some bearing on your decision whether to purchase it or not.

In our view, its single biggest selling point is its modest price tag. While it also occupies that “a grey area” between office chair and living room lounger, it strays much closer to living room lounger territory than an office chair.  As such, you’ll find that it blends into your existing home décor much more easily.

Having said that, Mecor is an off-brand. And while their post-sales support is good compared to some other off-brands, it’s a far cry from Serta, La-Z-Boy, or the other big names in the furniture world. It means if something’s missing from your box (it’s rare, but it happens), or if you encounter some other problem, it may be a bit of a process getting in touch with someone who can actually help you.

Also, if you’re looking for a model that has lots of fun extras on offer, this isn’t the chair you want.  Save your money, and in short order, you’ll be able to afford a more robust option.

Mecor Lounge Chair Review Conclusion

While we like the Mecor lounge chair, we cannot recommend it to everyone.  If you like the model’s aesthetic, are on a budget and don’t mind a model that doesn’t give you anything where extras are concerned, this one’s a good fit.

If the above describes you, you’ll be impressed.  It’s well worth the money the company is asking for it.
