If so, then you’re probably quite familiar with the problems associated with trying to find a beach chair that’s big and sturdy enough to properly support you. Most beach chairs on the market today support between 240-300 pounds. You will find a few that will support up to 325 or so, but beyond that, the pickings are slim.

The good news is that there are some great options on the market today for heavier folk, and the Oversized Heavy Duty Patio Lounge chair is a stellar example. We should note right out the gate that it’s very similar to the H.yina Lounger but with a couple of important differences and distinctions.

Like its close cousin, this isn’t a perfect chair, but it is a very good model with a lot to offer, and for the right person, it could be spectacular. Are you the ideal user for this chair? An Overview of the Oversized Heavy Duty Patio Lounger

With or without the poly fiberfill padding, the Oversized Heavy Duty Patio Lounge chair is a handsome design, fashioned of tubed steel with black accents, covered with breathable Oxford fabric, with a generous (and removable) layer of padding atop that. In terms of the basic stats that define this model, here’s what you’re looking at:

This chair is identical in size to the H.yina, but it’s a few pounds lighter while retaining the ability to support just as much weight. The fact that it’s lighter makes it much easier to fold up and tote off to the beach, where the H.yina is better suited for use around the family swimming pool since it’s inconveniently heavy if you have to carry it any distance.

Adjustability, Comfort, and Extras

In another similarity to its cousin, the H.yina chair, the Oversized Heavy Duty Patio Lounger is highly adjustable and capable of laying completely flat, which means it can pull double duty as an emergency cot if you needed it to. In fact, the layer of padding that comes with this model makes it even better suited to that purpose. Make no mistake, you’re still not going to get a great night’s sleep on it, but it would certainly work in a pinch.

Unfortunately, this upgraded model loses the ability to achieve Zero-G seating positions, which is one of the significant differences between this chair and the H.yina. The loss of such a powerful feature is at least partly made up for by the presence of the padded cushions and the lighter weight. Still, it would have been amazing if they’d kept the Zero-G seating options on this model.

Note that the chair is available in two different color options: Blue or grey and that the underlying chair doesn’t change color depending on your color selection. It applies only to the padding placed atop the Oxford fabric layer.

Comfort-wise, without the padding, the Oversized Patio Lounge chair offers slightly less comfort than the H.yina chair since it can’t contort itself into Zero-G seating positions. With the padded layer, the two are more or less equal, though the H.yina chair is still better for you if you suffer from chronic back pain or if you’re recovering from surgery of some kind.

If you plan to use this as a beach chair, you’ll probably find it more convenient to leave the padded layer at home and just lounge on the Oxford fabric. While the fabric of the padded layer is water-resistant, if it gets too wet, it will invariably moisten the poly fiberfill, which will take forever and a day to dry out.

So, the fabric layer is best used at home where you can easily get it out of the rain if needs be. Another option would be to use it on a covered patio or sunroom where there’s no risk of a sudden deluge leaving you with a soggy mess that will take days to sort out.

In any event, this chair, like the H.yina, doesn’t come with any onboard storage and doesn’t feature a cup holder. However, both of those things could easily be added with a bit of DIY engineering.

No Assembly Required

Most of the outdoor and beach chairs on the market today don’t require any assembly to get them ready for first use, and that’s also the case here. If you decide you want one of these, all you’ll have to do is take it out of the box, put it where you want it, unfold it and sit down and relax.

Pros and Cons of Oversized Patio Lounge Chair

We like almost everything about the Oversized Outdoor Lounge chair. But we dearly wish that it included Zero-G seating options. We can’t really count that as a negative, though, just an observation.

As we said, the Oversized Heavy Duty Patio Lounge Chair is a good chair that falls just shy of greatness. It’s light enough to be used as a beach chair. You won’t break your back toting it out to your favorite spot in the sand. It’s attractive, comfortable, and capable of supporting a generous amount of user weight.

The fact that it’s offered by a no-name brand may be a deal-breaker for some, but in our view, it is the chair’s only major point of weakness. We recommend it.
