In a Nutshell:

Do you enjoy outdoor entertaining, whether on your deck, patio, porch or in your yard? If you answered yes to that question and you’re on the heavier side, then you’ve probably found yourself frustrated by the relative lack of high weight capacity furniture options available to you.

If you weigh 300-pounds or less, you have a vast array of options open to you. If you weigh more than that, though, the number of choices you’ll find on the outdoor furniture market drop off significantly.

You’ve probably never heard of the WALCUT brand. They’re an online vendor, importing a variety of goods from China for resale here, and the Adirondack chairs we’re reviewing in this piece are a good example of the kind and quality of products they deal in.

We’ll be the first to admit that the WALCUT Foldable Adirondack Wood chairs aren’t perfect. Still, if you’re on a budget, then they belong on your shortlist of options to consider. In the sections that follow, we’ll tell you everything they have to offer so you can decide for yourself if these chairs deserve a space on your porch, deck, or patio. Let’s jump right in and take a closer look.

An Overview of the WALCUT Adirondack Wood Chair Set

Fun and functional. Those are the words most likely to spring to mind when you see the WALCUT Foldable Adirondack wood chairs for the first time. It’s important, before we go any further, to point out that you can’t buy just one of these. They’re only sold in packs of two.

These chairs are a bit more lightly constructed than most other Adirondack chairs we’ve seen, and that, combined with the fact that they’re made in China and imported here, is what enables WALCUT to keep the price so low. For about the price you’ll pay for a solid cedar wood, American-made Adirondack chair, you’re getting two of these.

That’s a good deal, but again, the quality of the product here is significantly lower than other Adirondack chairs you can find on the market today, so it’s something to keep firmly in mind. Having said that, let’s take a quick look at the stats that define these chairs:

Wood Color, WALCUT Foldable Adirondack Wood Chair, Left View
  • Overall Product Dimensions: 32.28” W x 28.35” D x 35.43” H
  • Folded Dimensions: 28.15” W x 41.73” D x 6.3” H
  • Seat Height: 14.17”
  • Seat Depth: 19.29”
  • Seat Width: 17.72”
  • Chair Weight: 17.64 pounds
  • Maximum Supported Weight: 400 pounds

There are a few things to say about these numbers. First, they’re not enormous chairs, and they collapse down into a nice, small package, so when you’re not using them, you’ll have a relatively easy time finding a place to put them until you need them again.

Second, note the seat height. While this is about average for chairs of this type, it’s pretty low to the ground, so if you suffer from any kind of mobility issue, getting into and out of these chairs might be a bit of a challenge. That’s actually why Adirondack chairs aren’t popular with some folks.

Third, while the seat depth is fine, the seat width may be problematic if you’re close to the chair’s maximum supported weight. You’ll want to take a quick measurement to be sure you’ll fit comfortably into it before you spend the money.

Finally, while these chairs support an impressive amount of user weight, they’re fairly lightweight, which makes moving them around as needed a simple proposition. Unfortunately, they’re so light that if someone isn’t sitting in them on a windy day, they may blow over. That’s not the end of the world, but it is something to keep in mind.

If you decide you want one of these (well…two, since they’re sold in pairs), note that you don’t have any options where color selection is concerned. You’re getting two Adirondack chairs in a color described as “Natural Ramin.” While the name of the color isn’t all that appealing, it’s a neutral shade that will blend easily with most outdoor décor and color schemes.

Adjustability and Comfort

There’s nothing adjustable about the WALCUT Adirondack Wood chairs, so there’s nothing to say on that front.

Comfort-wise, Adirondack chairs are a cut above most other types of outdoor seating, but the chair is made of wood and has no padding, which naturally limits things on that front.

On the other hand, the best way to view these chairs is as a blank slate. If you want to make them more comfortable, that’s easy to do. Just add a seat and/or seatback pad of whatever thickness you desire, and you’re all set!

Some Assembly is Required

As is the case with most of the furniture you can buy online these days, the WALCUT Adirondack Folding chair will arrive at your door in a large box and in several pieces, so you’ll have to do a bit of work to get your two new chairs ready for first use.

The production quality is good, but somewhat lower than you’ll find on many other chairs in its class. Nonetheless, the instructions are clear enough that the process shouldn’t be too daunting. Expect it to take the better part of an hour to assemble both, and note that if you don’t like putting your own furniture together, these chairs can be ordered with an expert assembly option, which makes it a completely hands-free process.

Unfortunately, the expert assembly option is expensive and will significantly dent the value proposition, which is the main reason for considering these chairs in the first place. On that basis, we can’t say we recommend it, but kudos to WALCUT for making the option available to those who may want or need it.

Pros and Cons of WALCUT Adirondack Wood Chair

Here are the things we think you’ll like best about WALCUT’s offering, in no particular order:

  • They’re delightfully inexpensive compared with comparable chairs.
  • They support a generous amount of user weight.
  • They’re reasonably attractive and comfortable.
  • And they’re light enough to easily move them from one place to another.

On the other hand, they do have a few downsides, the biggest of which are:

  • They’re offered by an unknown brand with no reputation for post-sales service and support.
  • The production quality is a bit lower than many of their peers.
  • And the seat width may not work for you if you are near the top end of the chair’s maximum supported weight.

Overall, we feel that the pros handily outweigh the cons, but some of the downsides could wind up being deal-breakers for some users.

WALCUT Foldable Adirondack Wood Chair Review Conclusion

The WALCUT Foldable Adirondack Wood chairs are good, but they fall short of greatness. Still, if you’re on a budget and assuming you like the Adirondack style and the seat width isn’t problematic for you, they’re a great option and loaded with value. On that basis, we provisionally recommend them.
