Is your health slowing you down? Mobility issues can have any number of root causes. Ultimately, though, they all tend to lead to the same place. Whether you suffer from arthritis, a recent surgery, or are just getting older, your mobility takes a hit, and things that were once so easy to do (like standing) suddenly become monumental challenges.

You can feel trapped when you suddenly go from being completely independent to struggling to do the simplest things. Calling for help to do simple things like standing after you’ve been sitting down for a while isn’t very comfortable.

A good power lift recliner can help with that. It will restore your confidence and give you back at least a measure of independence, but which one should you get? There are, after all, dozens of lift chairs on the market today, so how do you choose between them?

That comes down to taste, personal preference, and your budget.  Not everyone is going to put the same emphasis on the same features.  The Coaster Power Lift is an excellent budget-priced option that will appeal to a particular type of user. Specifically, the user who puts a premium on comfort. It’s a very good chair that falls just shy of greatness and is easily the most comfortable in its price range.

Of course, it has more to offer than just that, and in the sections that follow in our Coaster Power Lift Recliner review, we’ll give you all the detailsIt just may be the model you’ve been looking for!

Key Features of the Coaster Power Lift Recliner

The first thing you’ll notice when you look at the Coaster Power Lift is that it looks like it wants to give you a big hug.

Its velvety brown color and incredible padding make it seem almost like a chair-sized teddy bear, and it’s sending out an unspoken invitation.  “Come sit down for a while. Maybe take a nap.  You’ll feel better.”

Seriously, you could fall into it and drift off to sleep.

It’s a simple, classic design that will blend well with most any home décor scheme. And even better, despite its generous padding, it’s not an excessively large chair. It measures just 34” x 34” x 30” and weighs 86 pounds while supporting a maximum weight of 350 pounds.

Note that this is not a “wall hugger” design, so you must place it 18” – 24” from your wall to recline it fully.

Adjustability & Comfort

The Coaster Power Lift Recliner Chair is a basic, no-frills power lift recliner, so it doesn’t have many features to use as selling points.  The few features it does have, though, are implemented very well, and if there’s one standout, it is the chair’s comfort.

The chair’s ultra-soft fabric and incredible padding offer the most luxuriant seating experience in its price range. It is more comfortable than chairs that cost three or four times as much.

In our view, that’s a huge selling point because if you suffer from mobility issues, the odds are that you will spend a lot of time sitting down.  Why not be as comfortable as you can be?

Some Issues

As comfortable as it is, there are two (small) issues you should be aware of:

First, while many chairs are designed so that the legrest and backrest can be operated independently, this isn’t one of those models.  The leg rest and backrest operate in tandem or not at all.

Unfortunately, this chair doesn’t recline back quite far enough to take a nice long nap. While we can forgive the first issue, this second seems much more serious. After all, why build a chair that’s as comfortable as this one, then not make it recline back far enough to make it perfect for napping?

Obviously, you can nap in this recliner—we just wish it reclined back more than it does, and we’re almost certainly not alone in that.

Of course, being a power lift chair, it also offers a simple remote-controlled recline function and a powerful, quiet lift function for when you’re ready to get up and move.

Storage & Extras

The Coaster Power Lift Recliner offers two smallish side pockets for storage, one on each side.  These aren’t as roomy as the storage pockets on some other models we’ve seen but are big enough to meet most people’s needs.

You can easily store the remote, your favorite books and magazines, and a few other sundries while relaxing in your new favorite chair.

The only other “extra” the Coaster offers is a battery backup, and that’s huge. In fact, this is the cheapest chair we’ve found with a battery backup systemIt matters because if the power fails, the fact that the lights are out won’t leave you stuck in the chair and having to call for help.

Given that most people buy power lift recliners, at least in part to restore their independence, having a battery backup available is a big deal.  Kudos to Coaster Home Furnishings for its inclusion!

Some Assembly Required

Unfortunately, you’ll have to do a bit of work when the chair arrives before you can test it out. Assembly is a simple affair, as there are only two pieces to contend with. It shouldn’t take more than twenty minutes from unboxing to sitting if you do it alone, fifteen or less if you enlist the aid of a friend.

Pros & Cons of Coaster Power Lift Recliner Chair

The Coaster Furniture Power Lift Recliner is an unbelievably good power lift recliner for the price.  While we have had the pleasure of sitting in more comfortable chairs, we can count the number on one hand, which is an amazing accomplishment for a budget-priced chair.  Where comfort is concerned, it punches well above its weight class.

An Image Sample of Coaster Power Lift Recliner Left View

We can’t think of anything we’d add or change.  Any enhancements we’d be inclined to make would increase the price of the chair and take it out of the “budget” category, so we’re fine with it just as it is.

Despite our fondness for the Coaster Home Furnishings Power Lift Recliner, it is constructed with low-end materials, so no matter how careful you are with it, it will probably not age well

Even so, given its low cost, when it starts to wear out, it’s trivial to just go out and buy another, so we can’t even count that as a negative.

The one thing that might give you pause is that Coaster is off-brand, and the chair is made in China. The manufacturing quality isn’t top-tier, and when something inevitably breaks, it can be a bit of a challenge to get a customer service rep on the phone who can help you. Again, though, given the price, most people would consider that a worthy trade.

Coaster Power Lift Recliner Reviews Conclusion

While some chairs are “known for” certain combinations of features, this model’s primary selling point revolves around one thing:  Comfort.  If that’s important to you, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better power lift recliner than this one, and you certainly won’t find anything more comfortable unless you’re willing to spend a few thousand dollars.

That’s the reason most people will pick this model over some others and the reason why the Coaster Power Lift placed a respectable third in our recent roundup review.

Another good selling point is that the lowest-priced power lift recliner offers a battery backup. As important as that is, it’s usually overshadowed by the chair’s lush padding.

Either way, though, if those two features are important to you, this chair deserves your attention.  We recommend it.
