We’ll quickly admit that this isn’t the perfect office chair. It has its share of limitations, but it is delightfully comfortable and has more ergonomic features than we expected on a chair in its price range.

In the following sections, we’ll outline everything this model gets right and let you know its shortcomings and limitations. By the time you reach the end of this review, we think you’ll agree that this is a surprisingly good chair. Let’s jump right in and see what this model can do.

As such, the product quality isn’t world-class, but it is a cut above what we were expecting. Unfortunately, smaller brands like this can’t and typically don’t offer much post-sale product support, so if you encounter any issues with the chair, you’re on your own.

However, if you’re not especially brand-conscious and accept that a chair like this isn’t designed to last forever, you’ll find a lot to like here.

While we can’t say ObiwanSales did a tremendous amount on this front, we have to admit that going with the color purple and making it such a plush and comfortable chair was an interesting choice that caught our attention.

It’s an attractive piece of furniture, and despite its unusual color, it blends in with most home or office environments with relative ease. It would be overselling it to say that it was a beautiful chair, but it is better looking than many, if not most, of the models it competes against, and its bold color does add to its distinctive appeal. Again, that’s not huge, but it’s nothing.

Before we move on and start talking about the various features this model brings to the table, let’s take a quick look at the basic stats that define the chair. Here are the relevant numbers:

This chair’s seat height adjustment range marks it as a model designed to cater to the big and tall segment of the market, but the maximum supported weight limit doesn’t support that notion. It is a good choice for taller users, but most true big and tall chairs support at least 400 pounds of user weight.

Even so, the height adjustment range makes this model a good fit for a broad market. You must take careful measurements and be mindful of the upper weight limit, but assuming your measurements are a good fit for the chair, this is a solid choice, and we’ll outline why in the next section.

Comfort

Let’s start with comfort since there’s not a huge amount to say on the topic. The ObiwanSales Microfiber High Back Office Chair is clad in purple microfiber, a delightfully comfortable fabric, if not the most breathable, fabric. Beneath the soft material, you’ll find generous amounts of block foam padding.

It’s an overstuffed chair, so it’s more comfortable than your average office chair, but it still falls short of the comfort you’d get from advanced materials like memory foam. Even so, it’s a delight to sit in.

Ergonomic Features

In addition, the ObiwanSales office chair sports an impressive quartet of ergonomic features. None of the features are world-class implementations, but all are better than average. The armrests and the design of the waterfall-edge style seat are its best and most strongly implemented ergonomic aspects, with the head and neck support being above average and the lumbar support being adequate for most users.

Unfortunately, none of the features above are adjustable, but that’s hardly the kiss of death in this market segment. While it’s certainly possible to find chairs that offer one or perhaps even two adjustable ergonomic features in this price band, the bulk of the other chairs on the market don’t have adjustable ergonomic features either, which gives the ObiwanSales chair plenty of company.

Adjustability

This model sticks strictly to the basics in terms of adjustability. It swivels, has a tilt and lock mechanism, and you can adjust the seat’s height. If you’re looking for an amazing level of adjustability, this chair doesn’t do it for you, but if comfort and the color purple are important to you, you’ll love it.

Assembly is Required

As with just about every other office chair on the market today, the ObiwanSales Microfiber Executive Office Chair will arrive at your door in a large box, unassembled. The good news is that the assembly instructions are reasonably clear, and although the production quality isn’t top-notch, it’s good enough that the pieces all fit together with a minimum of fuss.

Note that the chair’s arms connect to the seat and the seatback, which means you’ll eventually find yourself holding three pieces awkwardly and wishing you had an extra pair of hands to keep them in place and insert the fasteners.

The process will go more smoothly if you have an assistant on standby when the chair arrives. Even if you don’t have help, the process should only take about 25-30 minutes from start to finish. With help, you can shave about ten minutes off of that.

Of course, if you’d rather avoid the assembly process altogether, you can do that too. This chair comes with an expert assembly option. Granted, the added fee you’ll pay is about a third of the price of the chair itself, but it might be an option that some potential buyers will want to take advantage of, so it’s good that it’s available. The biggest drawback of buying this chair is that an off-brand sells it, so you can’t expect much from post-sales service and support. We like the ObiwanSales Super Soft Microfiber Office Chair, and it is a good chair. However, unless you’re just dying to have a purple chair, you can find a comparable or better model for about the same or slightly more money. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and what’s important to you.

If aesthetics matter and a purple chair would be the perfect addition to your room, this is the one you want. If extreme adjustability is your main concern, this won’t be your best bet. On the whole, we regard it as a niche product. It’s a fun niche product, but that doesn’t change what it is. On that basis, we provisionally recommend it for light to moderate daily use and even periodic bouts of heavier use.
