Do you have a porch, patio, or deck you’d like to start using for outdoor entertaining? Are you looking for some outdoor furniture that’s more ruggedly built than average and supports more than 300-pounds of weight?
If you answered yes to both of those questions, then the Patio Festival 5 Piece Patio Conversation Set might be the solution you’ve been looking for.
If you haven’t heard Patio Festival, you’re not alone. It’s a tiny brand that imports its wares from China. The good news is that it keeps the price of the furniture they offer low. The bad news is that their products aren’t world-class. The quality is decent, but if you’re willing to spend a little more, you can get something even more robust.
Even so, this set offers solid value for the money and is a good choice for people who don’t have a lot of space to work with. We’ll be quick to admit that it’s not perfect, but for the right person, it could be a great fit.
In the section that follow, we’ll tell you everything it has to offer so you can decide for yourself if it’s the furniture you’ve been looking for. If that sounds good to you, let’s jump in and take a closer look.
Patio Festival 5 Piece Patio Conversation Furniture Set Overview
The first thing to say about the Patio Festival 5 piece patio conversation set is that while it doesn’t take up a ton of space, you actually get quite a lot of furniture. The set includes a loveseat, two rocking chairs, a small bistro table, and a coffee table. Even better, all the furniture is built on steel frames, which increases its durability and enables it to support more than an average amount of weight.
We’re big fans of rocking chairs, and in our view, their presence here is what makes this set so interesting. Most of the furniture sets you find on the market today offer club-style chairs paired with tables. PatioFestival’s approach represents a small change, but we love it!
Before we go into more detail, let’s take a look at this set by the numbers. Here are the basics:
These are generally good numbers. The seat height isn’t quite in the big and tall range, which typically starts at 18” and goes to 22” or higher, but it doesn’t miss the mark by too much, and even if you’re taller, you shouldn’t have any issues sitting in the chairs.
The seat width is good, but if you weigh close to the 400-pound maximum, you’ll probably want to take a quick measurement to be sure you’ll fit comfortably in the rockers.
The loveseat is a bit shorter than others we’ve seen on the market, but in this case, we regard that as a good thing and a conscious design decision by the manufacturer to create a set that could fit in a more confined space. The maximum supported weight is a bit underwhelming here. If you’re a heavier individual, you may have to sit in it by yourself. That’s not the end of the world, but it is something to bear in mind.
The Bistro table is about 2” on a side bigger than we were expecting, which we love. It’s not huge by any means, but certainly big enough to hold a small snack tray or a pitcher and a couple of drinking glasses.
The coffee table is about average. It’s a good size but simply designed and doesn’t boast a storage shelf underneath the tabletop. Given the price, we’re not terribly surprised at the basic design here. It’s functional, and it’s decent looking, but there’s nothing remarkable about it.
If you decide you want one of these, you can order yours with either light blue or khaki cushions. Both are attractive and blend well into almost any outdoor décor scheme. If you don’t yet have any outdoor furniture, these colors make it easy to blend any additional pieces you may add later on.
We love the color options offered, but we do wish there were more choices on that front. Even so, two’s better than one, and we can’t really count that against the company.
Adjustability And Comfort
There’s nothing adjustable about any of the furniture offered in the Patio Festival 5 piece patio conversation furniture set, so there’s nothing to say on that front. Where comfort is concerned, Patio Festival sticks to the basics, utilizing conventional block foam, covered with weather-resistant, quick-drying fabric.
These chairs, and indeed, this entire set was really designed to serve as occasional seating. The chairs are fine for relatively short periods, but if you’re looking for furniture you can spend an entire afternoon lounging in, this probably isn’t the set you want.
The foam padding is about 3.5” thick and, unfortunately, isn’t the best quality. It tends to break down and start sagging over time, so after about a year, maybe two depending on how often you use it, you’ll want to start thinking in terms of having the seat pads redone.
You’ll tend to notice this somewhat less when sitting in the rockers versus the loveseat. The rocking action of the chairs makes them relatively more comfortable, but the loveseat doesn’t rock. In our view, the loveseat also isn’t quite as sturdily built as the rocking chairs are. It’s not something that will be a deal-breaker for most people, but we regard it as a detail too important not to mention.
Some Assembly Required
If you decide you want the Patio Festival 5-piece metal patio conversation set, you will have to do a bit of work to get it ready for first use. The good news is that each piece comes partially assembled, so all you have to do is provide the finishing touches. The downside to that is that as a Chinese import, the quality isn’t world-class, and you may find yourself struggling in places to get the pieces to fit together as they should.
Even so, the quality of the set is a cut above what you normally see from lower-priced imported furniture, and the problems are certainly not numerous or insurmountable. The instructions aren’t perfect but are clear enough that the process isn’t an especially daunting one.
Unsurprisingly, there is no expert assembly option offered here. Even if there was, we wouldn’t recommend it. One of the big draws about this set is that it’s fairly low priced, given the amount of furniture you’re getting. Paying a premium to complete the assembly would seriously blunt the value proposition the set brings to the table.
Pros and Cons of the Patio Festival 5-Piece Metal Patio Conversation Set
In no particular order, here are the things we think you’ll like best about the Patio Festival 5-piece metal patio conversation set:
This set does have a few downsides associated with it, though. The biggest of these are:
While none of these things are outright deal-breakers collectively, they did serve to lower the overall score we gave to the set. This furniture may not be suitable for you, depending on how (and how often) you plan to make use of it.
Final Thoughts: Patio Festival 5 Piece Patio Conversation Set Review
The Patio Festival 5 Piece Patio Conversation Set is a good, well-priced furniture set that sadly falls short of greatness. In our view, the incorporation of sturdy outdoor rockers in the set is its major selling point. It’s stylish, reasonably well-built furniture that’s capable of supporting a generous amount of user weight, but be warned that the loveseat will probably leave you somewhat underwhelmed. We provisionally recommend it.
