Are you in the market for a new office chair? Are you looking for something comfortable and versatile that can withstand the rigors of heavy daily use?

If you answered yes to either of those questions and are willing to stray from the major national brands, you’ll like what you read in this review.

Flash Furniture isn’t a big-name brand but consistently makes good office furniture. We’ve written extensively about this company and reviewed several Flash Furniture models. Their products are so outstanding that the company regularly steals spots from the bigger, more established national brands on our roundup reviews.

The Flash Furniture Microfiber High-Back Chair is an excellent example of their work. It’s a basic design that doesn’t try to do too much. It covers the basics well, and you won’t be disappointed.

In the sections that follow, we’ll outline everything this model gets right, and we won’t shy away from talking about the chair’s shortcomings, so you’ll have all the information you need to decide if this is the model you’ve been looking for to replace your current chair.

If that sounds good to you, let’s dive in and look closer!

Key Features of the Flash Furniture Microfiber High-Back Chair

Big, comfy, and inviting. Those are the first words that entered our minds when we saw the chair for the first time. Even better, it lives up to the expectations those words establish. It’s not a flashy or showy design, but it’s sumptuously padded and inviting, which is high praise for an office chair.

Even better, Flash offers this model in a modest selection of colors, including black, brown, grey, grape, and navy. This makes it easy for the chair to blend seamlessly into your home or office, whatever your décor scheme.

Chair Specifications

Before we wade into the specific features this chair brings to the table, let’s pause for a moment and quickly review the core stats that define this model. They are:

  • Chair Dimensions: 27.5” x 27.5” x 45.25”
  • Chair Weight: 41.12 pounds
  • Maximum Supported Weight: 250 pounds
  • Seat Width: 20.75”
  • Seat Depth: 20.5”
  • Seat to Floor Height: 18.25” to 22”

We like these numbers. They blend together in the chair to make it a versatile piece of furniture that appeals to a broad swath of the market. Its minimum seat height is just shy of big and tall territory, and the seat height increases to cover at least part of that territory.

The 250-pound weight limit complements it well, making this model suitable for all but the shortest, heaviest, and tallest users.

While Flash doesn’t offer a chair optimized for shorter users, if you’re looking for something bigger and more robust provided by the same company, the one you want is the Flash Furniture Hercules 24/7. It has a similar appearance but swaps out the plastic base for heavy steel and can support up to five hundred pounds of weight.

Still, this model can accommodate some 95% of the market, making it a chair designed for the masses. We included it in our roundup of ergonomic office chairs for short people.

Adjustability and Comfort

We’ll start with comfort. Although this model doesn’t do anything fancy in the comfort department, it’s a superb chair for heavy daily use. The microfiber material isn’t the most breathable option the company could have chosen. Still, its heads and shoulders are better than bonded leather or PU in that department, and generous amounts of block foam padding augment it.

Granted, the experience isn’t as delightful as memory foam, but it will definitely impress. In addition, the Flash Furniture Go-725 High Back Microfiber Office Chair sports a trio of well-implemented ergonomic features that further enhance its comfort.

Lumbar Support

First, and in our view, the best feature of the bunch is the superb lumbar support. It’s not adjustable in any way, but it will help alleviate the pain in your aching back if you suffer from chronic lower back pain, and if you don’t, it will go a long way toward preventing that issue from developing.

Waterfall-Edge Style Seat

Second, the well-designed waterfall-edge style seat will help improve circulation in your lower extremities and is another feature that makes this a great chair for heavy daily use.

Head & Neck Support

Finally, there’s very good head and neck support, which is especially comfortable if you recline back in the chair to take a break during the workday. Although the armrests are fixed in their positions and not ergonomically designed, they deserve at least a brief mention because they’re clad in microfiber and very well padded.

Those features provide a lot of synergy and make this chair wonderfully comfortable. You may forget you’re sitting in a chair with block foam padding. Kudos to Flash Furniture for doing an excellent job on the comfort front.

In terms of adjustability, the chair is somewhat less impressive. Sure, it’s got the basics covered. You can tilt and lock, swivel, and raise and lower the seat, but if you’re looking for a chair that gives you more than the basic options, this model isn’t for you.

Assembly Is Required, But There’s A Way Around It

It probably won’t surprise you that this chair doesn’t come assembled, just like 95% of the office furniture on the market today. It will arrive at your doorstep in a sizeable box, and you’ll have to pull and sort the pieces and then put them together.

The production quality is on the high side of average, and the instructions are clear and straightforward, so those things aren’t going to be an issue or complicate your life, but one aspect of putting this chair together will prove to be a challenge.

This model has arms that attach to both the seat and the seatback, which means you’ll have to hold all three pieces in position while you try to figure out how to attach the fasteners. That’s a lot easier if you have an extra pair of hands available on the day the chair arrives, but it is possible if you do the assembly solo.

Expect to spend about 35-40 minutes on the assembly if you’re by yourself and about 15-20 minutes if you have that aforementioned extra pair of hands.

Note, too, that you can pay extra for expert assembly, which makes that part of the process entirely hands-free. You’ll pay a premium for the service, but all you’ll have to do is sit down when the assemblyman is finished.

Normally, we’re hesitant to recommend the service, but in this case, you can get it free, or nearly so, because this chair is frequently found on sale for almost half off. At that price, you can afford to pay the extra for the expert assembly and still save some money, which is fantastic, and we recommend it if you can catch a sale.

Pros and Cons of Flash Furniture High Back Microfiber Office Chair

Some people will find the biggest negative in this chair is its relative lack of adjustability. Again, if you want more than the basics, this chair will leave you wanting.

We like it as is. Its uncomplicated design focuses on the basic features an office chair should have and executes them well. That, along with its comfort level, makes it a tremendous value in our book.

Final Thoughts on Flash Furniture Go-725 High Back Microfiber Office Chair

Flash makes consistently good furniture. Although we personally like the Hercules 24/7 better, that chair is admittedly a niche product designed for giants. This chair is designed for regular-sized and tallish folk who weigh up to 250 pounds, covering most of the market.

If you’re not looking for anything fancy and want a really good, basic office chair with a few ergonomic features and an emphasis on comfort, Flash Furniture Microfiber High-Back Chair belongs on your shortlist. We recommend it, especially for people looking for a chair designed to withstand the rigors of heavy daily use.
